The New York Rangers have been in talks with forward Leo Komarov on a multi-year deal. Sounds like it's getting to that point. Wouldn't be surprised to see deal finalized on Sunday.

There’s a few things to take in here:
1) With the expansion draft due to Seattle’s expected inclusion in the NHL in 2020, any signings this summer can be looked at as “expansion fodder.”
2) For the New York Rangers as a whole, any deal at two years or less is nothing to get worked up about.
I don’t personally see any benefit of bringing in Komarov in to help make the team better. That said, it behooves the Rangers to not be good as they rebuild next year, so it’s fine so long it’s at a two-year maximum. If the Rangers bring in Komarov as a veteran presence who can play on the fourth line and they use him like that for two years, whatever.
