The 31-year-old forward from the Vegas Golden Knights is a career fourth-liner but is supposedly a very good teammate and presence in the room. He had 10 points in 79 games last season and has a career total of 31 goals and 30 assists in 498 games.
There is truth to the #NYR making a strong push to add Ryan Reaves. His buddy Kevin Shattenkirk has been a big part of the recruiting process. #stlblues

Some important things to note:
*Reaves is not that good of a hockey player but he’s not Tanner Glass. He’s not completely useless and did have a decent playoff run with the Golden Knights. He won’t be an anchor on the fourth line and will add some toughness and physicality to the Rangers’ bottom-six. He’d be a great presence in the locker room for the kids on the roster.
*With the Rangers not looking to compete for a playoff spot and having plenty of cap space, the amount of money the Rangers are offering isn’t that much of a big deal. What’s important is the term, as the shorter the contract the better. There’s no reason to lock the team into a multiple year commitment as it just decreases future flexibility they’d have. Anything over three years is unnecessarily long.
*It’s been shown that Reaves has trade value in the league, with him being dealt multiple times recently for decent returns. If the Rangers do sign him, hopefully they’d be able to flip him at the deadline for some sort of return.
