Report: Rangers Have Made 2021 Pick Jayden Grubbe Available
According to Frank Seravalli, the New York Rangers have made Jayden Grubbe available, as they likely won't be signing him to an ELC.
One other personnel note: #NYR let all 31 other teams know they likely won't be signing 2021 3rd rd pick Jayden Grubbe before June 1 deadline, making him available.

Grubbe had 67 pts in 64 games for WHL Red Deer. The Calgary kid is a 6-foot-3, right-shooting center.
Grubbe was selected with the 1st pick of the 3rd round of the draft at No. 65 overall.

You never know what will happen with 3rd round picks, although in the case of the Rangers, they've found success there whether it be Zac Jones, Pavel Buchnevich, or Anthony Duclair among others. In hindsight, although he was highly rated at the time of the draft, it appears the team missed out by not picking someone like Sasha Pastujov. Pastujov went the pick after Grubbe, and he's looking like a pretty promising prospect for the Anaheim Ducks. I am sure there are others you can find, but that just is the nature of the draft in general.
Stuff like this happens, and it will happen again, but organizationally the Rangers don't have any room in the foreseeable future at center. It will be interesting if there are any teams that want to acquire him and get the chance to try and soon him before he's an outright free agent, but such a move at best would return a later pick a few years down the line.
