Originally acquired in a one-for-one trade with Colorado that sent Gustav Rydahl the other way, Blidh came in as a depth forward with AHL experience. In 64 games with the Wolf Pack last season, Blidh registered 7 goals and 10 assists for a total of 17 points. He suited up for one game with the Rangers but had nothing to show for aside from a minor penalty.
This year, Blidh has cemented himself as a valuable veteran presence in Hartford. In 66 games, he's in the midst of a career year with 17 goals and 13 assists. The former sixth round pick in 2013 is a bit of a journeyman but is a solid fringe NHL/AHL forward. More notably, he's been a great mentor for his younger teammates in Hartford and plays the game with a full effort on a nightly basis. Can never have too much depth and as long as he continues to be used in a top-six role in Hartford, it's solid business from the Rangers.
