Report: Rempe Recalled & Other AHL News

It's been a relatively eventful couple of days in terms of roster moves for the New York Rangers. It kicked off on Thursday with Chad Ruhwedel being placed on waivers and eventually assigned to the Hartford Wolf Pack the day after. Matt Rempe would also join him in the AHL as he was assigned after the game against Florida Thursday Night. Since then, depth forward Jake Leschyshyn has added to his Amtrak frequent flyer miles as he was recalled before the game against Anaheim on Saturday and sent back down this morning.

At the time of writing this, the Rangers only have 12 healthy forwards on their roster but according to the AHL transactions page, it appears Matt Rempe will be rejoining the team prior to their next outing against the Washington Capitals on Tuesday. With the Wolf Pack not playing again until Wednesday and Jimmy Vesey still being unavailable for a couple of more games, it makes sense for the Rangers to have an extra forward with the team. It's also worth mentioning Sam Carrick was banged up a bit Saturday against the Ducks.

The Rangers easily could have recalled Jake Leschyshyn again if it was just a matter of having an extra forward so with Rempe rejoining the team, there's a good chance he could be back in the lineup Tuesday Night. In two games with the Wolf Pack over the weekend, Rempe didn't exactly stand out as he was a minus three with just one shot on goal per game, but he did get some more experience playing center which could come in handy if Sam Carrick is still banged up come Tuesday.

It's also worth noting that Brennan Othmann is off to an unfortunate start to the AHL season as he is dealing with an upper-body injury that has him out for 4-to-6 weeks. In three games played, Othmann was putting up good numbers with two goals and three assists.

Through the first six games of Hartford's season, B.O. Groulx and Brett Berard have been among the standouts with both players collecting eight points up to this point. Groulx got things started for the Pack this afternoon with a nice shot on an odd-man rush that beat Colten Ellis up high, picking up right where he left off after scoring the overtime game winner Friday Night against Lehigh Valley.

Dylan Roobroeck also picked up the first goal of his professional career as he picked up the second score in Hartford's 5-2 loss to the Springfield Thunderbirds this afternoon.
