Riveters Trade Carpenter to Boston for D'Oench and Cap Space
The rights to Carp have been traded for $2,000 in cap space and Miye D'Oench from Harvard.

Carpenter (Boston College) was drafted first overall by the Riveters in the 2015 NWHL Draft. At BC, she scored 279 points (134g, 145a) in 150 games and won the Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award her junior year. She won a silver medal with USA Hockey at the 2014 Olympics. Miye D’Oench (Harvard) was drafted fifteenth overall by the Boston Pride, and collected 122 points (64g, 58a) in 135 NCAA games.
In addition, the Riveters will receive $2,000 towards their salary cap from the Pride, as negotiated by Wiseman and Moore under the draft tax bylaws.
Carpenter and D’Oench may continue any contract negotiations already in progress with their new club.
Today the Riveters traded the first overall pick of the 2015 NWHL Draft and one of the most talented and exceptional women's hockey players on the planet.
Yesterday Riveters' general manager and head coach Chad Wiseman acquired Hannah Brandt in a trade that turned heads because it gave the Riveters the first and second overall picks from last year's draft. The Brandt trade makes a great deal more sense now that Carpenter has moved and the cap space that the Riveters lost has been reacquired.
The focus now turns to just how much talent the Boston Pride will be able to stockpile for next season. The Riveters will need to make sure they sign talented players from last year's draft like Brandt, O'Doench, Michelle Picard, and Erin Ambrose for next season to add skill, speed, and puck movement to a team that was in desperate need of all three last season.
