Ryan Lindgren To Have Hearing With NHL Department of Player Safety
Ryan Lindgren took down Joonas Donskoi with a big hit during Tuesday’s victory vs. the Colorado Avalanche, and although a penalty was not assessed on the play, the league is going to give it another look.
NY Rangers’ Ryan Lindgren will have a hearing today for an Illegal Check to the Head on Colorado’s Joonas Donskoi.

Here’s the hit in question.

Following the hit, Nazem Kadri went after Lindgren, and was assessed a two minute penalty for instigating, a five minute major for fighting, and a 10 minute misconduct.
Lindgren was visibly bloody after the scrap, and he did not return to the game. Donskoi missed the remainder of the game as well. It will be interesting to see how the department rules on the hit considering it was one that’s right on the borderline, and one that wasn’t penalized during the game.
Bit of a surprise here, usually they don’t rule on this type of incident where a fight occurs after with potential injury. Might have helped that David Quinn said Lindgren appears to be OK.

Looking at 1-2 games here for an illegal check to the head https://t.co/G1Mfej88Xl
Main point of contact is the head, Lindgren extends upward but does not leave feet and makes head contact where it is avoidable. Donskoi appears to suffer a concussion on the play. Two games pic.twitter.com/DyWZoKZSBu
