The Seattle Kraken will officially make their way into the National Hockey League tonight as they select their inaugural roster tonight at 8 p.m. The Kraken will be selecting 14 forwards, nine defensemen, and three goaltenders from the pool of available players. Each team can only lose a maximum of one player off of their roster, with the exception of the Vegas Golden Knights, who are exempt from the process entirely.
Even though a majority of the picks have leaked throughout the afternoon, there’s still some suspense heading into tonight with trades and side deals expected to be announced. For the Rangers, it’s rumored that they will be losing Colin Blackwell to Seattle, but there was an interesting twist thrown into the ring.
Hearing Seattle is going to take Colin Blackwell from #NYR ... but there could be a trade in the works (for D Mark Giordano?) that changes the pick and allows Rangers to keep Blackwell.

Mark Giordano certainly checks a lot of boxes for the Rangers, even with an exorbitant cap hit, and adds that veteran presence on the blue line GM Chris Drury has been in search of since he took over the reigns.
Whether or not the deal actually comes together is another story, but it’s definitely something to keep an eye on heading into tonight’s draft.
