Should NYR Make Another Trade With Pittsburgh?
It’s no secret the Rangers haven’t been performing up to the high standard that comes with being the reigning Presidents’ Trophy Winners entering another “Cup or bust” type of season. On the other side of that coin however, they are still a team that is 10-4-1 through their first 15 games of the season. On the surface, that’s a successful start to the season and when a team still manages to win games despite playing poorly, that’s partially a good sign. The problem is, we’ve seen this movie plenty of times before. We know the Rangers are more than capable of getting through the regular season and into the playoffs but even at their best, it’s proven not to be good enough to achieve their ultimate goal.
Is it reasonable to expect this team to win every game? Of course not. I would go as far as saying it isn’t even reasonable to expect them to win the Presidents’ Trophy again. At the end of the day, even if the Rangers take a bit of a drop off this year, they’re still a major collapse away from missing the playoffs. The real question is how long before the team’s weaknesses become potential for a major collapse?
