The Lindgren Question
The Rangers defenseman becomes the newest target of trade discourse.
After Ryan Lindgren inked an extension for one singular year this summer following a lengthy salary negotiation, the writing seemed to be on the wall for New York’s bloodiest shot-blocker. The defensive defender commanded a $4.5M dollar salary this offseason following a three-year bridge during which he became an invaluable asset as Adam Fox’s left-hand man. Now in response to Lindgren missing the start of the season with an upper-body injury, Peter Laviolette’s gone and given the D-core shaken baby syndrome, giving Fox some time with K’Andre Miller instead. Lindgren was back with his regular partner as of Saturday night’s 4-0 win over the Red Wings, but despite the victory, you may have thought Lindgren was a double-agent working for Lindy Ruff and Steve Yzerman to personally sabotage the games last week if you were scrolling social media.
