Nieves has seven points in 12 games with the Pack this season. The 24-year-old center has appeared in 29 games in his NHL career to date, and he’s tallied one goal and eight assists for nine points. His promotion was standalone without another body going the other way, and that makes it interesting. Lias Andersson was a healthy scratch on Friday, and presumably he’d be next in line to suit up if someone were injured. There’s the potential that two skaters are injured, and that would explain Nieves’ recall. Kevin Hayes left Friday night’s game in the third period and did not return, although head coach David Quinn did say afterwards that he should be fine for Sunday.
The @NYRangers just called up Boo Nieves from @WolfPackAHL. Coach David Quinn said Kevin Hayes should be OK to play tomorrow vs. Vegas, but this feels like a little insurance in case he isn't.

The Rangers play tomorrow afternoon vs the Vegas Golden Knights, so we should know more soon.
Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.
