Lindqvist, a 5-foot-11 Swedish winger with a right-handed shot, scored 20 goals in 33 games last season — 10 of which came on the power play — for Färjestad BK. He also scored two goals and picked up an assist in two playoff games.
Last month Lindqvist’s agent told Expressen that several NHL teams were interested in signing the young winger. Clearly, Jeff Gorton liked what he saw in the Swede. Where Lindqvist fits into the picture next season remains to be seen, but it’s no mystery that the Rangers need to add some more offensive depth at wing this offseason. It looks like Lindqvist is the first piece of that puzzle.
