December is always a busy month for everyone and the Rangers are no exception. With thirteen games including three back to backs, two of which with travel, the Rangers won’t have the easiest schedule across a crucial stretch of games. That five game losing streak and the struggles beyond it that tainted their November have caused no shortage of drastic pressures to be put on this group to get this season back on track. So far, those pressures haven’t resonated and the problems are creeping into the final month of the calendar year.

With all of this in mind, the question becomes what does a successful December actually look like for this Rangers team? Well frankly, it looks nothing like what they showed us in their first game of the month against the New Jersey Devils on Monday Night. Sure there were some aspects of the game you could label as positive but given the bigger picture and just how embarrassing of a night that game turned out to be, nothing about that performance can happen again. Something has to give if this team is going to completely snap out of this funk and it starts one game at a time.
